The Spring Season is underway, and it is a busy time for the team. We have been in a good pre-season training regimen since returning from Winter Break as we prepare for our first contest; 21 March at Army. We will host our annual Winter Clinic 22-23 February and members of the team will take part in THON that weekend as we show our support for Logan and the rest of the families in their battles with Childhood Cancer.

We are very excited to welcome Luke Lewis to town. Luke joins us from Florida where he recently completed his Masters in Exercise Science at FAU. Luke hails from Wales and spent time as a Regional Rugby Development Officer while there. After moving to America Luke has been involved with American Top Team (MMA and BJJ gym and team), The Dragons Lair (Performance Gym training pro-athletes and 7x Mr. Olympia Flex Lewis) and Team Corbs (Alex Corbisiero’s rugby consultancy business). Not only does Luke bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with Rugby, but his background in Strength and Conditioning is a huge added value to the teams.

As always, the Spring Season is a bit of an unknown as we come out of hibernation. We currently have 2 scheduled 15’s matches. 21 March we will travel to Army followed by hosting Life University 28 March. After those two matches our season could take on two directions, in a pick your own adventure type setup. We wait to find out if we are going to be in the D1A National 15’s playoffs. The managing organization is making some decisions around the structure of the playoffs which will either put us in or out. The second route we could take is to begin training and playing 7’s this spring season. We have 4 possible 7’s tournaments on the schedule, 1 of which we will definitely attend on 4 April at Navy. After that we could take a spot in the Kutztown 7’s on 18 April, the newly formed ECAC 7’s on 25 April and finish up with the D1A National Championship 7’s 29-31 May (which we will need to qualify for).

Needless to say, the spring season can be a challenging endeavor to plan for with the different competitions and different directions we could take. But this certainly is not stopping the team in their preparation and enthusiasm. Whichever direction this spring takes we will be looking to win every contest and secure our spot in the Top 10 Rankings.

We hope to see as many of you at our matches over the course of the Spring Season. Thank you for all your support and we hope to make you proud with our on-field performances.
